Review:
Shorty's Skate Tool

I had been going on quite a few skating missions with my friends and always seemed to be emptying out the toolbox for all of the tools I could possibly need. Screwdriver, small spanner and various sized attachments for the ratchet set all had to fit into my backpack along with food, cameras, and stuff like that. It was definatly time for a tool. I checked out a few tools and this one just seemed to cover the most parts of the board in one tool. $15 Canadian later I was out of the store and broke out the tool to try tightening everything on my board. It took me a few minutes to find all of the ways you have to attatch the part that looks like an allen key to the main part so it gets some torque.

The tool was working great for tightening everything. The hardware was a breeze, and the wheels were on in no time. The first sign of trouble came when I went to tighten the kingpins. As most people know, it takes quite a bit of effort to really tighten up your kingpins. To get the tool to tighten the kingpins, you need to stick the allen key in one end of the tool and then turn it. As I was tightening my trucks, the allen key piece felt like it was about to snap in half. I really didn't feel like breaking the tool in the first 20 minutes I had it so I didn't try and just got the ratchet.

Overall, this tool got the job done in most cases. It only let me down when it came to the kingpin so I was reasonably happy. I am sure there are better tools available though so I would not recommend you choose this as tool unless you like to carry it and a ratchet in your bag.
