| The
forums started with the 1st version of LL. They were pretty basic, and phpBB. As v.2 of LL was released, so
were the forums. We upgraded to an Ikonboard. We kept the Ikonboards up until the current version of LoserLabeled,
until we were informed by our hosting company TowerHost informed
us that the script the Ikonboard was using was using up too much CPU power on their servers, and kindly asked
us to shut them down.
For
about two and a half weeks, we went without forums, but we weren't
just being lazy and sitting around. We were constantly talking about
a solution to the problem at hand, and came up with 2 conclusions: All
contribute to buy a vBulliten or get a phpBB or Invision board. The problem
with the vBulliten though is that Ryan would have to send me some money, then
we would buy the rest, but that would result in another 2-4 week waiting period,
so we decided to go ahead and set-up an Invision Board.
The Hellish
Weekend: On Friday, March 7th, we decided late at night that we were going to set-up
an Invision Forum. On Saturday, Ryan and I began work, while Mike was out on a BMX
filming day. I had a few problems uploading all the files, which resulted in having
to delete them and re-uploading them. Once I finally uploaded them, Ryan got to work
with some new images and a new skin, and I set-up the catagories, set the permissions,
etc. I had already disliked the Admin CP, and how it functioned. It gave you very little
options and rule over the forums, basically a piece of shit. And Ryan, well, he was
having a time. You couldn't install skins, and that got him mad, and then he couldn't
figure out how to do some other things, even after someone on the support forums had
tried to help(which didn't help at all actually). So, after leaving a "nice" message on
their forums, we deleted the Invision boards and uploaded a phpBB. After a day of hard work,
we had gotten up most of the board, with some things still to add. We did those throughout
the day, and then open them to the public. A few more little hacks here and there were added,
and we've gotten quite a few members quickly since it has only been open since Sunday.
New phpBB Forums
We are very happy with these
new phpBB forums, and we hope that all our hard work that was put into these forums haven't
go to waste. To visit or register on the forums, click here.
I would also like to thank our moderators, Megan Bates and Ryan Noblet, to devoting their time and
effort to these forums. Thanks guys.
