Review:
Factor X "Kink Rail"
By: Luis | Tuesday, August 19th, 2003
So, people are looking for fancy adjustable grind rails but they don't want to spend around $120+ for grind rails as you can find at the local skate shop. Others just want a rail that isn't that high for them to learn tricks on. As you see some shops sell adjustable rails which the settings are at least 11 inches the lowest and around 15 inches the highest. Many are scared to try and grind on those rails. Other can't even Ollie onto them because they are so tall. Well looking around for rails I found cheap one adjustable and pretty good for a grind rail, I found the Factor X "Kink Rail" this is a pretty good rail 9 feet long 12 inches tall(on it's highest point).

The rail is divided in three(3) parts when using it as an actual kink rail, it's the upper level, the 4ft 3/4" transition and the lower level. It's a 16 gauge steel rail, and it can hold up to 220 lbs., which is good and it SHOULD ONLY BE USED WITH INLINES AND SKATEBOARDS. That rail it self is around 20 lbs. or something around the weight. It has anti-slip pads on the bottom so the rail doesn't slide when you are sliding. and it has 3 settings each with a 2 inch height difference. The lower level can be up to 6 inches and upper leve up to 12 inches.

My experience with this rail was an ok one, I still have the rail and I must say it's a pretty good rail but not enough for my needs I must say, yes I still use it but not as much as I use the other ones. To use the rail as a flat rail you need this special plastic thing it has and I must say it was a rip I broke it trying to frontside lipslide (which I still can't do) so I know must use the kinked version of the rail. I must say the kink transition is fun which gets a hard to adjust to. Well now to the real review.

The rail is good but if you are first time rail buyer I wont recommend this rail to you, I'll give 3 reasons:

1. It's a round rail, that means that it's a circle so it's hard to do the tricks one. The means you'll have to use more effort onto landing the tricks because you'll have to improve your balance and square rails are easier. The good part is you'll learn how to balance best which will help you out in the future when you are ready to hit hand rails.
2. The kink well when you first see the rail you are like "I can do that" Well you can't! It takes time and it's pretty hard to get use to it. Good point you'll be ready for handrails since they go down.
3. Height, Well it's either to tall or to low so take a guess.

Then if you are a more experienced grinder(lets call people that) then that rail is for you and make sure you register it because to make it a flat rail you need the plastic part which is breakable! Well this rail is around $50 and it's pretty good I never found it in a store so I had to buy it online which made the rail $90 but it's worth it. So I wont give you detailed e-tailers so go to www.factorx.com and check their stuff out (some is good).

I give this rail 10/10. Which is a little overrated but it's a great rail you should get it!
