If you are a devoted skateboarder and live in the United States like Patrick Kerr a 15 year old skateboarder and honor student then this scholarship is for you. The Patrick Kerr Skateboard Scholarship review their applications on the following requirments:

• Be a skateboarder
• Currently a high school senior graduating by June 2003
Possess a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher
on a 4.0 scale
• Enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an
accredited two or four year college/university no later than
the fall term of 2003
• Be a United States citizen

Everyone who applies must complete a essay based question on the topic "How has skateboarding been a positive influence in your life?" which will later be reviewed by the scholarship selection committee. The top 10 picked essays will then be sent to each member of the board for complete final marking and ranking. Award recipients will be notified by July 15, 2003.

"The awards consist of one 5,000 dollar scholarship and three 1,000 dollar scholarships. Each winner also receives a back to school package of skate clothing and gear. Application deadline is April 20, 2003." (Transworld Skateboarding)

Also note if you have been active in getting a skatepark in your town will get you special considerations when it comes to picking the final people. For example, have you been getting petitions signed, designing the skatepark plans, having meetings with your community council about getting a skatepark, set up or ran a findraiser. All of these are considered special considerations.
