Steps: 4
1)Get
your feet in the ollie position, approach the
rail or curb at a moderate speed, parrallel. (Either
B/S or F/S whichever is most comfortable to learn
first. I find that F/S tends to be easier for
the first timers of Smiths.)
2)Ollie
so that you are just above the curb, apply all
your pressure to your back foot over the hardware
so that when you land, you are landing on your
back truck with the front of the board siding,
angled kind of like a boardslide. Make sure your
front wheels don't catch the curb or rail!
3)Try
and bend your back leg some and have your front
foot pointing more straight to add a bit of style
to it, it also might allow you to grind more easily.
4)When
you decide that you want to come off the smith
or have run out of momentum the the only cool
way is to apply a sudden amount of pressure to
the tail and ollie like normal (This can be hard
to get use to and being able to manual ollie helps)
- make sure to land AWAY from the curb not back
on it when you ollie off and roll away thinking
you're big stuff.
